☀️ Summer is Here – Let’s Soak It Up! ☀️

What an absolutely glorious week we’ve had at Fun Box Day Nursery! With the sun shining brightly and the temperatures rising, it’s safe to say summer has well and truly arrived – and we’re loving every minute of it! 😎🌸

From the moment we step into the garden, the children have been enjoying every second of this summery spell with a whole host of exciting, enriching activities designed to make the most of the warm weather while continuing our learning and development.

But first – a quick reminder to all our lovely families: please don’t forget sun hats and appropriate sun protection for your little ones! ☀️🧴 We’re making sure children stay safe while having fun in the sun, keeping cool with plenty of shady breaks and, of course, water galore!

💧 Summery Science & Sensory Play Indoors

We brought the summer indoors with hands-on water play using pipettes – a brilliant way to explore measuring, mixing, and understanding capacity in a fun, sensory-rich environment. It’s amazing to see the curiosity on children’s faces as they experiment with volume and control, squeezing and pouring with such focus and delight.

🌊 Outdoors: Full of Fun and Discovery

Outside in our sunny garden, we got stuck into all kinds of summery sensory play. The children explored water and sand, combining textures to investigate consistency, density, and even how colours change when mixed. It’s messy, it’s marvellous, and it’s exactly what childhood summers are made of!

One of the highlights this week? Our ice-melting challenge! 🧊 The children experimented with different tools – pipettes and hammers – to find out the fastest way to free little toys trapped in blocks of ice. A brilliant mix of problem-solving, science and summer fun!

To cool off after all the action, we tucked into refreshing ice lollies for snack – a big hit, as you can imagine! 🍦❄️

🧱 Balance, Build, Snip and Step! Plenty of fun in the sun at Fun Box :)

Summer sunshine means we can bring even more of our learning outdoors. The children put their balancing skills to the test with stepping stones, snipped away using scissors to work on their fine motor skills, and got creative with Lego building – all in the fresh air of our garden.

There’s just something magical about learning outdoors in the sunshine – and we’re making the most of every golden moment. Whether we’re experimenting with water, exploring ice, building towers, or simply enjoying the feel of the sun on our backs, summer at Fun Box Day Nursery is all about joyful discovery. 🌼🌞
