What a Wonderful First Week Back at Fun Box!
After a well-deserved summer break, we were thrilled to welcome our Fun Box children on their first week back for the start of a brand-new term. The nursery was once again filled with laughter, excitement, and the hum of happy play as our returning children reconnected with their friends and our new little starters began to settle in beautifully.
It’s always heartwarming to see those first-week smiles—whether it’s a familiar face running through the door or a brand-new friend discovering their first toy!
👯♀️ Reuniting and Settling In
For many of our children, it was a joyful reunion as they reconnected with their nursery friends after the summer break. There were warm greetings, big smiles, and lots of stories shared.
Our newest children also made a fantastic start—taking big steps into a new environment with courage and curiosity. We’ve already seen some lovely connections forming and can’t wait to see their confidence blossom in the coming weeks.
🎭 Let’s Pretend! Amazing Role Play Adventures
Role play took centre stage this week as imaginations ran wild. Whether they were:
Caring for friends as doctors and patients
Running a restaurant or shop
Brushing and pampering animals in a pet grooming salon
…our children were diving deep into creative and collaborative play. Role play not only fuels imagination but also builds important skills in communication, empathy, and social development—all while having lots of fun!
🚜 Wheels, Trucks, and Towers Galore
Of course, the big trucks, diggers, and cars were a huge hit—zooming across the floor and through imaginary building sites.
Construction play was just as popular, taking many forms:
Magnetiles for bold, colourful creations
Wooden blocks for classic building fun
And even some exceptional sandcastles that would impress any beachgoer!
These open-ended resources support problem-solving, spatial awareness, and fine motor skills, all through hands-on exploration.
🧸 For Our Little Explorers
Our younger children loved engaging with sensory toys and cause-and-effect activities. Whether they were spinning, pressing, stacking, or watching how things moved and reacted, they were discovering how the world works through play.
These early interactions support cognitive development and give children a real sense of agency in their learning—an important foundation for all future growth.
📚 Stories, Scribbles, and Quiet Moments
And of course, no week at Fun Box would be complete without some quieter, creative moments. We shared familiar storytime favourites, encouraged early mark-making through drawing, and created opportunities for the children to express their thoughts, ideas, and creativity.
🌟 Looking Ahead
What a fantastic start to the new term! The energy, imagination, and joy in the room this week reminded us exactly why we love what we do. We’re so proud of how quickly our new children are settling in and how warmly our returning children welcomed them.
Here’s to a term full of friendship, fun, and learning adventures—we can’t wait to see what the next week brings!
