This week at Fun Box Day Nursery, we had a very exciting (and slightly unexpected!) visitorā¦
Our not-so-average Easter Bunny, Nibbles, made a grand reappearance right in front of the nursery gateāmuch to the childrenās absolute delight! š°āØ
(If you havenāt met Nibbles before, heās our giant, slightly goofy inflatable bunny⦠and definitely impossible to miss!)
With his return, our focus naturally turned to all things spring and Easter, bringing lots of seasonal joy, curiosity, and hands-on learning into our days.

š· Easter Activities at Nursery: Exploring, Discovering and Playing Together
The garden quickly became a hub of excitement as the children set off on their Easter-themed explorations. They were especially eager to try bobbing for colourful plastic eggsĀ in the water tray š§š„āa fantastic activity supporting Physical Development, as they reached, balanced, and coordinated their movements.
In another sensory activity, the children searched for hidden Easter eggs beneath soft blue sand. Using brushes to gently sweep the sand away, they carefully uncovered the treasures below. This activity encouraged fine motor skills (PD)Ā as well as curiosity and exploration (Understanding the World).
šØ Creative Easter Crafts and Expressive Play
Inside the nursery, creativity was in full bloom šø
The children used bingo dabbers to decorate large Easter eggs, experimenting with colours and patterns while developing their Expressive Arts and DesignĀ skills.
One of the highlights of the week was making beautiful Easter crownsĀ š The children carefully selected different flowers, petals, and leaves, thoughtfully arranging and sticking them onto their crowns. This activity not only supported creativity and imagination, but also encouraged decision-making and concentrationākey aspects of both Expressive ArtsĀ and Personal, Social and Emotional Development (PSED).
š Spring Discoveries and Mathematical Thinking
Spring is the perfect time to explore the natural world, and the children showed great interest in our bug hotelĀ š They observed and talked about different insects, developing their Understanding of the WorldĀ and expanding their vocabulary through rich discussions.
We also brought spring into our maths activities š¼
The children enjoyed counting with caterpillars, carefully matching the correct number of pompoms to each numeralāsupporting Mathematics (number recognition and counting)Ā as well as fine motor control.
They further developed their mathematical thinking by ordering numbered flowers and flowerpot pictures, building their understanding of sequencing and number order.
š² Active Play for All Ages
Our youngest children made the most of the lovely weather by exploring sand in the garden and enjoying lots of movement-based play. Riding bikes and playing with balls supported their gross motor skills (Physical Development)Ā and coordination.
Meanwhile, our older children had great fun during Dough DiscoĀ ššŗāa firm favourite! As they squeezed, rolled, and stretched the dough while moving to music, they strengthened their hand muscles (essential for early writing) and expressed themselves through rhythm and dance.
š A Week Full of Joy, Learning and Spring Magic
From Nibblesā cheerful return to our wide range of Easter activities at nursery, this week has been full of laughter, discovery, and meaningful learning experiences.
Through play, creativity, and exploration, the children have continued to develop important skills across all areas of the EYFSāwhile simply enjoying being children š
We canāt wait to see what next week brings!
