The high slide is a great source or joy and fun for the children but it is about so much more than that.By climbing and the ladder and going down the slide children develop their gross motor skills, vestibular system, spatial awareness, co-ordination, balancing skills.They also learn about detecting and managing danger, sensing depths and hight, waiting for their turn, remembering and keeping safety rules.
You can also incorporate mathematical development in this process by counting steps, describing sizes and basic physics by commenting on velocity (speed) and talking about mass.
