A Healthy Start to the New Year with nursery activities for healthy living
The new year is off to a wonderful start at the nursery, and we’ve been focusing on a theme that’s close to our hearts—keeping healthy! Through a variety of fun and engaging nursery activities for healthy living, the children have been learning about how to take care of themselves, all while having a fantastic time.
Tooth Brushing Fun 🪥
We kicked off the week with an activity about brushing teeth. The children practiced brushing model teeth, learning how to keep their smiles sparkling. It was a playful way to introduce the importance of good dental hygiene.
Balancing and Physical Health 🤸♂️
Our physical health activity had the children testing their balance and coordination. From balancing on beams to hopping on one leg, they loved the challenge and felt proud of their growing skills. Staying active is such an important part of being healthy, and they were all up for the task!
Exploring Healthy Foods 🥕🍎
We also had a chat about healthy eating, looking at different fruits and vegetables and talking about why they’re good for us. The children even tried their hand at vegetable painting, using carrots and celery to stamp and create colourful artwork—it was messy, creative, and so much fun!
Pretend Healthy Dinners 🍽️
In our role-play area, the children pretended to cook healthy dinners, using play food to whip up their imaginary meals. They shared ideas about what makes a good dinner and practiced “serving” their dishes with pride.

Doll Bath Time 🛁
Our little ones also took on the role of caregivers, giving their dolls a bath. They learned about keeping clean and how looking after ourselves is an important part of staying healthy.

Playdough Creations 🎨
To round out the week, we made our own playdough! The children helped measure, mix, and knead the dough, strengthening their fine motor skills while having fun creating shapes and squishy masterpieces.
It’s been a wonderful first week back, filled with learning, laughter, and plenty of hands-on activities. Here’s to a happy and healthy new year at the nursery—stay tuned for more adventures ahead! 🌟
